Youth Trek 2023 - Individual Packing List

Your gear for the pioneer trek will be packed in three ways:

1. A personal bag

2. A small daypack (Provided by the stake.)

3. Bedroll:  includes sleeping bag, pillow, blanket, and sleeping pad (optional) all rolled together.  (The stake will provide a large, heavy duty garbage sack for your bedroll)

 

Remember to label everything with your first and last name

 

What to Pack in Your Bedroll (bag provided by the stake)

□       Sleeping bag - cold weather bag (temperatures may get < 40F at night)

□       Old warm blanket (inside sleeping bag)

□       Small camp pillow (optional)

□       Sleeping pad (optional)

 

What to Pack in Your Personal Bag

□       Rain poncho or rain jacket

□       Sweatshirt or hoodie

□       Hand towel or wash cloth

□       Comb or brush

□       Deodorant (optional but we hope you bring it J)

□       Soap

□       Toothbrush and toothpaste (place in zip lock bag)

□       1 Pair of comfortable trail shoes, well broken in

□       1 Pair of shoes for water crossing

□       3 Pair of sturdy socks (wear one pair, pack two)

□       3 Sets of underclothing (wear one pair, pack two)

□       Sleepwear (sweats, etc. - but may only be worn at bedtime)

□       Small headlamp or flashlight and extra batteries

□       If you wear contacts/glasses and supplies as needed

□       Required Medications (Medical personnel need to know what you have)

□       Moleskin

□       Pen or pencils

 

What to Pack in Your Daypack (bag provided by the stake)

□       Water bottle

□       Any essential items that you will need access to (ex: medication, personal hygiene)

□       Lip protection – SPF 15+

□       Sunscreen – SPF 30

 

Young Women Should Bring:

□       2 to 3 pair of loose, lightweight pants (wear one, pack one or two)

□       2 shirts (provided by the stake, wear one, pack one)

□       Wide brim hat recommended for sun protection.

□       Feminine hygiene supplies

□       Hair elastics or fasteners (optional)

 

Young Men Should Bring:

□       2 to 3 pair of loose, lightweight pants (wear one, pack one or two)

□       2 shirts (wear one, pack one, the stake will provide the shirts)

□       Wide brim hat recommended for sun protection.

 

Optional Items:

□       Lotion

□       Hand sanitizer or small package of hand wipes

□       Sunglasses (simple and inexpensive)

 

Do NOT Bring:

X Leggings

X  Fireworks, matches, lighters.

X  Hatchets, sheath or butterfly knives

X  Firearms or weapons
