Week 3 Summary & Objectives

During Week 3, let's find out who we are related to.  It is always fun to see what popular individuals we are related to, such as a prophet, king, or queen.

Visit Relative Finder

Visit the site Relative Finder, once on site you will be asked to login into your FamilySearch account.  Once logged in, you can begin to have fun with seeing what famous individuals you are related to.

Idea 1:  Filter for what former Prophets you are related to?

On the left-hand side of the page, select LDS - Prophets.

If you are related to a Prophet, select the prophet and see your family line and how you are related.  Once you see your family tree, select the prophet, and view his life’s memories.

It is also fun to review the memories and photos of the relative that your share in common.  Perhaps your common relative was a knight, or a King and Queen.

Repeat with other filters.

Idea 2:  See who in our Stake & Ward you're related to!

This is possibly one of the most fun activities of all. Relative Finder makes it possible to see who in our Stake & Wards you're related to! Relative Finder will take your Family Tree from Family Search and will match it up with others who have signed up for this Relative Finder group. Check back often as more members of our Stake sign up so that you can see your closest relatives with each other.

To see who you are related to, visit RelativeFinder.org and sign in by using your FamilySearch.org username and password.

Once you are logged in, it will take a couple of minutes to go through your FamilySearch.org family tree. After your family tree is loaded, navigate to the menu at the top of the screen and click on Groups.

We have created a private group for our Wellsville Stake, and anyone that signs up for the group will be able to see their relationship to other members of the group. So the more people that sign in and sign up for the group, the more people you'll be able to see who you are related to! It's fun to see. Encourage all of your friends, neighbors, ward members, and stake members to sign in and join.

 

Once you click on Groups, enter the group name "Wellsville Stake", and the group password is "wellsville". After you join the group you'll see how you're related to everyone in the group.
